How to download and view your DEMO from the matchmaking in CS2?
Watching your own matches is a great way to improve your skills in Counter-Strike 2. It helps to see mistakes, understand your style of play and learn what you can do better. In this simple guide, we will show you step by step how to download and watch your own demo match CS2.
Step 1: Go to Game History
- Open Steam and log in to your account.
- In the top menu, click on your avatar.
- Go to the “Game” tab.
- Find in the list of Counter-Strike 2 games.
- Choose “Watch matches and tournaments” to see the history of your matches.

Step 2: Download Your Demo
- Find a match you want to watch.
- Click the “Download demo to view” button.
- After downloading you will receive a .zip or .rar file that can be viewed directly on the match page.

Step 3: Unpack file
- Use a program, such as WinRAR or 7-Zip, to unlock the file.
- Place the .dem file in the following folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\com\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\game\csgo
Note: Although the game is called CS2, the name of the folder remains csgo. Don’t worry, it’s okay.
Step 4: Run CS2 and watch demo
- Open the CS2.
- Press the ~ (title) key to open the console. If the console does not open, check the game settings to enable it.
- Enter the command: playdemo file name Replace the file name in the name of your demo file (without .dem).
- Press Enter. The demo will be loaded.
- Then enter the command: demoui This will open a small control panel. You can use it for pause, rewind, skipping rounds and moving the camera.

Additional tips:
- You can slow down or speed up the demo solution using the demoui panel.
- Use the thirdperson command to see your model from the outside.
- Try to watch a demo on behalf of your teammates or opponents to learn more.
- Take notes while watching. Write down things you want to improve.
